Reaping Angels by Laura Thalassa
There are few things superhero Angel wants in life. World peace. Unlimited chocolate banana milkshakes. Spandex outfits with pockets. What she doesn’t want is the attention of the Executioner, a supervillain who kills with his touch.
But the moment she survives a caress—and a kiss—at the mercy of his lethal skin, Angel realizes her problems just got a whole lot bigger. Because the only thing worse than a supervillain who wants to kill you is one who wants to keep you.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Angel, the heroine is badass, snarky, and loves food. It’s so much fun to be in her head. Then there’s X. Damn he’s hot. I expected to throw myself at him of course, but I was not expecting to feel so much sorrow for him. After learning his secrets, I fell in love as I’m sure you will too. His touch can burn people to death, while hers heals – see where this is going? The book switches back and forth between the two character’s povs and the story is driven quite well by these different perspectives. I found this book while searching through Hades & Persephone recommendations, you’ll see why when you start reading it. I hope there will be a sequel or a series based in this world because I went into reading this book not realizing it was a novella. It is so well-written that I was like “Wtf, it’s done already? I needs more!!!” I didn’t even get that usual rushed feel that novellas are packed with. Reaping Angels definitely delivers on all the feels, so get it now!
