Once upon a time the daughter of a mafia king fell in love with a foot soldier.
This fairy tale didn’t have a happy ending.
My sister and I barely managed to escape alive, and we’ve lived in relative hiding ever since. I’m safe now, but I can never forget the boy who gave his life to save mine.
Except there’s a chance that he’s still alive. And he’s fighting a war.
Even knowing the risks, I have to find him. I have to find some way to protect him, the way he protected me. But he isn’t the boy I left behind. He’s a violent man. A criminal. And he’s been waiting for me—the final pawn in a dark game of survival and love.
I was gifted this book by the Author in exchange for an honest review.
Even though this was book 4 and I have not read any of the other books in this series, I had no problem following along. While I love series I do appreciate being able to jump in and not feel like I’m totally lost.
I absolutely loved these characters. I loved that even through separation Gio and Clara are still able to find each other. I’m not sure I’m crazy about the way it came about. So in that sense maybe I needed to read the back story on why Gio needed to kidnap Clara. Overall this is a classic love story where the characters needed to evolve and find themselves again. To find the love that they were meant to have and not just what they remembered.
If you love Mafia romance then you’ll love this book and Gio and Clara’s story.
